Tara Rae’s musical journey began at the age of 5, laying the foundation for a lifelong passion. She picked up the clarinet at 11, flute at 13, and expanded her repertoire to include electric bass and saxophone by 18. Tara holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston, with a minor in Radio & Television.
At 17, Tara began training for a career in audio engineering, gaining extensive experience mixing live and studio sound. She worked on recording projects at the renowned SSL studio Southeast Recorders and later taught Audio Engineering at Houston Community College. Tara has also contributed as an educator through private music lessons, master classes, and sheet music transcription, notably for the Houston Ballet Orchestra and San Jacinto College Music Department.
An accomplished performer, Tara has played in bands since she was 18, showcasing her skills on alto and tenor saxophones, flute, and electric bass. Her credits include performing with World Beat bands The Swamis and Bacchanal, Filipino folk-rock bands Archipelago and Kayumunggi, and the Latin band Zun Zun, as well as subbing as a bassist for various other groups.
Currently, Tara Rae is the bassist for RagDolls – The Ultimate All-Female Aerosmith Tribute, where she continues to bring her musical talent to audiences everywhere.
