Tara Rae’s musical journey began at the age of 5, laying the foundation for a lifelong passion. She began with the clarinet at 11 and flute at 13, later expanding her repertoire to include electric bass and saxophone by 18. Tara holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston, with a minor in Radio & Television.

 

At 17, Tara started training as an audio engineer, gaining extensive experience mixing live and studio sound. She has worked on recording projects at the renowned SSL studio Southeast Recorders, taught Audio Engineering at Houston Community College, and provided private lessons, master classes, and music transcription for ensembles including the Houston Ballet Orchestra and San Jacinto College Music Department.

 

An accomplished and versatile performer, Tara has played in bands since she was 18, showcasing her talents on alto and tenor saxophones, flute, and electric bass. Her performing credits span World Beat bands The Swamis and Bacchanal, Filipino folk-rock bands Archipelago and Kayumunggi, the Latin band Zun Zun, and numerous other groups as a substitute bassist.

 

Tara has recently brought her bass expertise to progressive and tribute music festivals, including Progstock, Prog on the Ranch, A Tribute to Jeff Beck, and Phil Demmel’s Merkins.

She is also the official bassist subfor Zepparella, the premiere all-female Led Zeppelin tribute.

 

Currently, Tara Rae is the bassist for RagDolls – The Ultimate Aerosmith Tribute, continuing to bring her smile, musicianship, and energy to audiences everywhere.
